Introduction

I can be of help in the treatment of depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, and other conditions causing pain and impairment. My approach is collaborative, with a strong focus on building resources that have a positive impact on mental health and overall wellbeing. Our work is based on agreed goals, and a plan we create together. We assess needs and priorities, and progressively address issues with care and sensitivity to your unique situation. Having trained, and working, both in the US and Argentina, I integrate best practices, with culturally sensitive adaptations, to help English-speaking clients living abroad.

Some people, individuals and couples, seek support, not because of symptoms or illness, but because of specific challenges or the wish to grow and overcome obstacles. Life abroad can pose unique challenges. It can also offer unique opportunities for rich personal transformations. Whichever the reasons, our work will aim to help you understand your needs and build skills and resources to reach the change you want. I’m excited to see how clients succeed, again and again, in turning challenges into opportunities for growth.

My work with couples, many of them bi-cultural, is based on can integrative framework based on attachment theory, systems functioning, cross-cultural relating, communication and teaming dynamics, and developmental psychology. I support partners in learning about their relationship and their own experience in it, and help them create new ways of engaging and communicating. Couples sessions can be done via telehealth by just having both partners in front of the camera, or, if they are in different spaces, by connecting simultaneously on a video platform I provide. I only work with couples in which both partners are located in Argentina. We may plan for 90-minute sessions, as well as more intensive modules. We can discuss all this and decide a plan together. I am flexible and, together, we will decide an approach that works for you.

My approach is integrative, based on principles of Integrative Psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, developmental, psychodynamic, and constructivist psychology. We attend to your needs and unique situation through care, understanding, compassion, patience, and motivation.

For the past 23 years, I’ve been fortunate to work with inspiring colleagues and clients in hospital, research, and education settings: at NY-Presbyterian Hospital in NYC, the Research Foundation also in NY, the CCHE-Columbia University, and the Morrison Center in Portland, OR. Please see the Resume section for more information.

Psychological care works best when we feel safe, understood, and empowered. (Read more about therapy). In this context, I commit to offering you professional and supportive care, so you attend to your needs, heal, and grow in the direction of your values and goals. I am an ally to all diversity: cultural, ethnic, sexual, religious, and lifestyle. I am committed to high standards of privacy and confidentiality so we can to talk about anything and everything that is important to you.

I’m sure there is more to mention, but I hope this is enough for a start. Please let me know if you have questions or want to connect.

We can meet in an initial (no-cost) consultation, and discuss your search and hopes for support.

Sincerely,

Alejandro
